A collar that is too tight is uncomfortable and unsafe; one that is too loose can slip straight over the head. The good news: finding the perfect fit takes about two minutes — and a well-fitted collar simply looks better on your pet, too.
A soft measuring tape, or a piece of string and a ruler. A few treats help keep your model standing still — measuring is much easier when nobody is mid-zoomies.
Wrap the tape snugly around the base of the neck — the widest point, where the collar naturally rests — then slide two fingers under the tape. If both fit comfortably, that's your size. If the tape presses into the fur, or you can't fit two fingers, size up.
All BABEPOP PET collars come in four adjustable sizes, so you can fine-tune the fit after it arrives: S fits necks 8–10 in (20–26 cm) — most cats and toy breeds · M fits 10–13 in (26–33 cm) — small dogs like pugs and shih tzus · L fits 13–16 in (33–41 cm) · XL fits 16–20 in (41–51 cm).
Every collar has an adjustable band, so slightly larger still sits comfortably — and it gives your pet room through winter coats and summer trims alike.
Check the fit every two weeks until your pet is fully grown — usually 6–8 months for small breeds and about a year for larger ones. The two-finger test takes seconds, and it may be the most useful habit in this guide.
Collars are everyday jewelry — and like any accessory, they should be worn under supervision. Remove the collar for rough play, swimming and when your pet is alone, and check the band, clasp and dangles weekly for wear. Questions about sizing? Contact us any time.
